11月28日 Having problem opening VPC in Vista? Are you running Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 in Windows Vista?
Have you ever experience the stated error when running a VPC created using Microsoft Virtual PC 2004?
The virtual machine "<VPC Name>" can't be started because it is being used by another program, or marked as read-only. To start this virtual machine, stop using the virtual machine in another program, or ensure that it is not marked as read-only.
This is because of the application does not have the privilege to access the particular file.
Solution:
1) Right click on your Microsoft Virtual PC shortcut from the programs.
2) Select on "Properties".
3) Select on the "Compatibility" tab.
4) Check on the "Privilege Level" to run the application as an Administrator.
5) Start the VPC and you're good to go!!!
11月22日 Get ready to "ReadyBoost" your VistaAre you ready for Windows Vista???
How can you boost your machine's performance without physically upgrading your hardware?
Well, to be technically correct, it is more towards without upgrading your internal hardware.
Everyone knows that performance can be improved by adding more RAMs to the machine.
What happens when your memory slot has been used up? Happen to have some thumbdrives and memory cards lying around.
Now you can "ReadyBoost" your Windows Vista using these memory devices.
It improves system performance by retrieving data kept on the flash memory more quickly than it can retrieve data kept on the hard disk.
So what happens if you accidently plug out the memory devices?
Windows ReadyBoost is reliable and provides protection of the data stored on your device. You can remove the memory device at any time without any loss of data or negative impact to the system.
However, if you remove the device, your performance returns to the level you experienced without the device.
Additionally, data on the removable memory device is encrypted to help prevent inappropriate access to data when the device is removed.
I'm now using my 1 GB Lexar 80x CF card through a USB 2.0 card reader.
It's time for you guys to get ready for "ReadyBoost" !!!
